ALI-720: Islamic Anthropology – The Immaterial Soul

This course in Islamic Anthropology examines the deep nature of the human being, extending the epistemological foundations laid in the previous course (ALI-716). Students will explore the immaterial essence of the soul ( nafs ) through rational and textual evidence. The course focuses on understanding the soul’s distinct reality, its path toward purification and perfection, and its inherent connection to higher, immaterial dimensions of existence. Gaining an intellectual grasp of the soul’s immateriality offers an essential framework for engaging with concepts of Divinity and deepening our understanding of Allah (swt).
