Sūrat al-Mulk

Sūrah No. 67. Revealed in Makkah, 30 verses.

Merits of reciting the Sūrah

The Sūrah is also known as al-Māni‘ (the shield) or al-Munjiyah (the savior) as the many hadith about this Sūrah say it protects and saves from punishment after death. The Holy Prophet a says: I would love for this Sūrah to be in the heart of every believer.

Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (a) says: Sūrat al-Mulk is the shield that prevents punishment in the grave and it is written in the Tawrāt as Sūrat al-Mulk, and whoever recites it on a night has recited a lot and has done well and will not be considered from the heedless ones.

Note: Quranic Scholars say that the reward is connected to the contents of the Sūrah and requires that recitation be done with awareness, comprehension, reflection and having an intention of implementation.
