ALI 706: Simple Islamic Laws for Sisters, Level 1

This online course will cover the essential Islamic laws for a Shi’i Muslim, using the translation of Darsnaameye Feqh by Shaykh Muhammad Husayn Fallahzaade. Laws will be taught in accordance with the opinions (fatawa) of Ayatullah Syed Sistani and Ayatullah Syed Khamenei. The course will begin with the basics of Ṭahārah (purification) and then move on to Ṣalāh (prayer), slowly working through the topics in a clear and relatable way.

Eligibility: Shi’i Muslim Sisters ages 14 – 30 years
Schedule: 12 Friday evenings from Sep 12 to Nov 28, 2025
Timings: 11 pm in UK, 6 pm in NY/Toronto, 3 pm in Seattle/Vancouver.

Course Overview

This online course will cover the essential Islamic laws for a Shi’i Muslim, using the translation of Darsnāme-ye Fiqh by Shaykh Muhammad Husayn Fallāhzādeh. Laws will be taught in accordance with the opinions (fatāwā) of Āyatullāh Sayyid Sīstānī and Āyatullāh Sayyid Khāmene’ī.

  • Conditions for becoming a Marja’ (source of emulation).
  • The subjects a Mujtahid (jurisprudent) must study.
  • Rulings associated with following a deceased Marja’.
  • The concept of Rujū’ (referring to another Mujtahid) when a Marja’ has an Ihtiyāt ruling.
  • Tahārah (purity) as a prerequisite for prayer.
  • Overview of key discussions: Khabath (ritual impurity) and Hadath (state of impurity).
  • Introduction to Ghusl (ritual bath) and Wudū’ (ablution).
