The Holy Quran contains several Āyats which seemingly rebuke the holy Prophet and question his ‘isma. In addition, the event of the first revelation (bi‘tha) is also under scrutiny due to the existence of narrations which also reflect against the belief of his ‘infallibility’. The discussion shall focus on the opinions of Muslim theologians on this issue, with particular emphasis on the viewpoints of the School of Ahlulbayt (as), and how these verses have been interpreted.
