Day 29 – Sūrat al-Quraysh

Brief Info
Sūrat al-Quraysh No. 106. Revealed in Makkah, 4 verses. This sūra is considered to be a completion of the sūra before it, Sūrat al-Fil.

Merits of reciting the Sūra
The Prophet sallal-lāhu ‘alayhi wa-ālihi wasallam has said: Whoever recites it will receive the reward of good deeds ten times the number of those who do tawaf of the Ka‘bah and those who perform I’tikāf in it.

According to scholars this reward is for the one who submits to, and worships, the Lord of the Ka‘bah.

Synopsis of contents
The sūra talks about Allah ‘azza wajall’s blessings on the Quraysh. It was to remind them to thank Allah, the God of the Ka‘bah, that had brought them honor and prestige.

Some Lessons from the Sūra
1) The success and well-being of a people comes from the blessings given to them by Allah subhānahu wata‘ālā.
2) Acknowledging the blessings of Allah (swt) and being grateful for them leads to worshipping Him.

Select verses for memorization in Arabic and English.
It would be recommended that the entire sūra be memorized.
